The Gospel Of Jesus Christ

Sometime ago Billy Graham was preaching in Dallas Texas at the Cotton Bowl,  after he was through preaching he gave his usual alter call, but very few people came forward to accept Christ. Hundreds of people usually come forward in his services. Billy was somewhat upset and went up to his motel room.

As he was thinking about the poor response to his message,  he hears a knock on the door. He opened the door and it was a good friend of his, the friend said to him, “Billy do you know why so few people came forward tonight?” He said ” Billy you didn’t preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ tonight.” And Billy realized indeed he had not preached the Gospel of Christ, and vowed he would always include the Gospel in all his sermons from that day on.

Paul the apostle was one of the greatest proclaimers of the Gospel of Christ in the history of New Testament Church. Paul the apostle was quick to correct anyone trying to tell people that there was ant other way to be saved other than accepting the Gospel message of Jesus Christ–and that message is that Jesus died-was buried-and rose from the dead, and he did this so mankind could be saved if they believed and accepted the Jesus of the Gospel Message.

Paul would also be very quick to correct anyone who tried to convince someone that there was something else you had to add to the Gospel in order to have eternal life.

In Galatians: i-9  you can feel the urgency and the anger as Paul the Apostle writes this cutting passage of Scripture to the people in the Churches of Galatia, he writes, “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.  But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!  As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!

These are very strong words of warning to the Churches of Galatia, and also strong warnings to the people in our Churches today.

Several yeas ago a missionary from India was speaking in Chicago to a group of people, and at the close of his message an angry young man stood up and asked the missionary this probing question, he asked “why do you go  India to bother those people about Jesus Christ —aren’t they getting along alright without Him?” That’s the kind of mind set of a lot of people in our world today, isn’t it? Why bother people people about Jesus Christ–people seem to be getting along fine without Him.

When I got saved I got so excited about what Christ had done in my life I wanted to tell everyone about Him. I made up my mind I was going to tell everyone of my relatives about God’s plan of salvation. After I came to know the Lord their was quite a dramatic change in my life, here is this guy who used to hang around in the bars and hardly ever enter the doors of a church, and now here he is telling people about Jesus Christ. People just didn’t understand what had happened to me.

One of my relatives politely told me this new religion I had found was OK, but I shouldn’t let it go to my head,  and would be best if I kept it to myself.

One person told me this religion that I had might be alright for me, but might not be good for someone else who had a different religion.

Well, getting back to this missionary from India. He answered the angry young mans question in a very direct and stern manner, he said, “no young man–those people are not getting along alright without Jesus Christ– no one–anywhere is getting along alright without Him!” And I want to tell you my friend who is reading this message–you aren’t getting along  alright without Him either, and neither was I.

God’s Plan for Israel

Just as Paul did, today’s believers of the gospel ought to stand in awe that God uses all things for His mission of His gospel, in order that His people may come to His Son, Jesus.

Who is Jesus Christ?

The name Christ is derived the ancient greek form of the Hebrew word Messiah. It isn’t a second name but more a title, hence Jesus the Christ. Where and how was he born?

The Gospel of Jesus

Abp. Okoh’s sermon (I know, it is a plenary address, but I know a sermon when I see one) is a call to all Anglicans both north and south, to make a stand for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Differences in the Gospel Accounts of Jesus Christ

Each of the four Gospel accounts in the Bible provides complementary, rather than contradictory, information about the life and ministry of Jesus Christ.

Surrender to God

He preached the Gospel everywhere in the whole Asia Minor and crossed to Rome. Why did Paul dare to preach that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world? The answer is because of FAITH. .

When Adoption Fails, the Gospel is Denied

The wonder of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is this — not one of us is worthy of adoption. In our sinfulness, not one of us has any claim on the Father’s love, much less a right to adoption….
