Gods Grace

The Big craze today is body building- even a lot of women are into body building. Look at all the commercials we see on television-some of the older ones were Solar Flex, Nordic Track, Ski Machine, Sudden Youth to remove your wrinkles, and today a whole batch of new products to make us look better and younger.

But Solomon said: “Its all vanity and a chasing after the wind.” Many of us use all our energies on trying to make our bodies look good.

Our bodies crave pleasure it has physical appetites, and we spend much of our time and money on the appetites of the body.

But our soul has appetites too- the soul longs for God.

Deep down inside of every persons heart is a cry and a longing for something or someone-but man doesn’t know what it is.

Man is a worshiping creature.

Man instinctively knows that there is something or someone out there and he longs to know who or what it is. I want to tell you dear friend, that something or someone is God! Because your soul is the part of you that was made in the image of God, and your soul will never be satisfied, never be complete, never be content, until it finds communion with God, and can fellowship with its creator.

Our bodies will die and turn back to dust, but the soul has a longing for God because the soul is eternal and will live forever.

Every time I go to a Church to preach I pray and ask God what message He wants me to preach jesus cross, rugged crossat the Church I’m scheduled to preach in. I think the people in these Churches have heard the Gospel hundreds of times, and God seems to say, but Glenn—there might be one person who hasn’t heard the Gospel or hasn’t understood it.

Like the man who had been a pastor for 30 years and had probable heard the Gospel many, many, times. One day while listening to a preacher on his car radio he heard the Gospel message about how Jesus died for our sins on an old rugged cross–and he realized for the first time that Jesus died for HIS sins and he needed to repent and ask Jesus to forgive him and ask Jesus to save him.

A 70 year old pastor with 30 years experience as a pastor, and now for the first time he would have something exciting to preach about.

Yes, the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation, and the most valuable thing to God is your soul.

The Bible says in 1st Timothy “and here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance; Jesus came into the world to save sinners,” and Paul adds [of whom I am the worst]

Paul knew he was a sinner–undeserving of Gods grace, but he also knew what the power of the Gospel had did for him.

A Theology of Glory and a Theology of the Cross

Any reading of the New Testament will demonstrate that the systematic theology of the Apostle Paul was a theology of the Cross. His focus was not upon his spirituality but uponthe Cross of Christ.

the old rugged cross, cross of god

Continued From > Christian Salvation

The Apostle Paul said in Romans 1:16  “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” Paul knew from experience that the Gospel is the power of God that can take a murderer and change him into a man whose heart is filled with love, because before his conversion he was a murderer, he was there approving of the murder of Stephen when he was stoned to death.

Paul knew the changing power of the Gospel of Christ and how it can completely change the life of a man, woman, boy or girl. Yes,  Paul knew that it’s only these people who have had this life changing experience that will have an impact of the world. For you see the world cannot change for the better until the hearts of men and woman, boys and girls are changed.

The Gospel is the power of God that takes a fallen woman, lifts her up and makes her as pure as an angel. The Bible says in Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, let us reason together,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

The Gospel is the power of God that takes a drunkard and makes him a sober man.

They teach in college in addiction classes that once an alcoholic always an alcoholic– that might be true for for the person that has never experience the life changing power of the Gospel,  but for the person who has accepted Jesus Christ it would be an insult to God and Christ to say that once an alcoholic always an alcoholic, we would be calling God a liar!  The Bible says, in Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” and in 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”

After more than1900 years the Gospel has lost none of it’s power. It is as much the power of God unto salvation today as it was when it was first preached by Paul the Apostle and many others.

The Gospel needs no help from me, It needs no handmaid or earthly helper.

The Gospel can overcome all, and I mean ALL obstacles and break down all barriers.

Sin is no hindrance, the Gospel can reach down into the gutter most extremities that a human soul can sink, and still bring the abounding grace of a loving God who said in 2 Peter 3:9 “I want none to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

God is so rich that He will not sell any of this, even the wealthiest are so pitifully poor that they cannot purchase it. It comes as a FREE gift–by grace–through faith–plus nothing! And that’s why Paul was telling the people of the Churches in Galatia, and his message hasn’t changed, and today salvation still comes by grace through faith, plus nothing–by believing and accepting the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Continued From > Gospel Of Jesus Christ

A well know Cristian evangelist was getting ready to leave on a preaching assignment to Africa. A few days before he left a neighbor  stopped over for a few minuets and said to the evangelist “why are you going to Africa with your religion? He continued “they have their own religion – so why do you trouble them with yours.”

The neighbor was quite surprised  when the evangelist told him he did not go anywhere to preach religion.  You know, this is sad to say, but that’s what a lot of church folks have today -Religion, what a drag that is!

The evangelist Said, “our message is the Gospel of Jesus Christ– I would not walk across the street — much less cross an ocean to to interest anyone with religion, but I am ready and willing to go anywhere in the world to proclaim the Gospel of the Son of God!”

I thank God that through the centuries there have been hundreds and thousands who have shared this dedication that this evangelist has– for winning souls for Christ by faithfully proclaiming the life changing message of the Gospel.

The Apostle Paul was one of the first to give his all to be a proclaimer of the Good News of the Gospel.  He said in Acts:20-24  “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.”

There are thousand of religions in the world–but only one Gospel. Several months after I was saved, and yes  I was saved by hearing the same Gospel Paul the Apostle  was proclaiming–It hasn’t changed! Any way I walked into a service station in the town where I lived, and a guy said to me, ” Hanson I hear you got religion,” I answered, ” if you mean by religion that I have accepted Christ as my lord and  savior, than yes that’s true.” He answered, “whatever its all religion.” You see a good number of people do not know the difference between religion and The Gospel.

Like I said before there are thousands of religions– but only one true Gospel that can save a sinner headed for hell and put him/her on the road to heaven.

For you see:

  • Religions are a product of the human mind
  • The Gospel is the revelation of Gods mind.
  • Religions originated on earth.
  • The Gospel originated in heaven.
  • Religions are man made.
  • The Gospel is a gift from God.
  • Religions–and I mean all of them is the story of what a sinful man tries to do for God.
  • The Gospel is the wonderful story of what a Holy God has already done for sinful man.
  • Religion is mans quest for God.
  • The Gospel is the Savior God seeking lost man.
  • Religion at it’s best can only succeed in producing an outward reformation.
  • The Gospel performs the miracle  of an inward transformation.
  • Religion is good views– the opinions of sinful man.
  • The Gospel is the good news declaration of of a righteous and loving God.

We could sum up the whole issue about religion verses the Gospel this way; religion may put a new coat on a man, but the Gospel puts a new man in the coat.

Provoked Thoughts on Savation

Salvation, who ever really stops to seriously think about it? Being asked who I accept as the one who will bring me to salvation is a daunting question, when in reality it is quite a simple thing.

It’s all Savation

Salvation is the only way to eternal life. You have to have faith in Jesus Christ to get you to heaven. I have heard this saying a lot and it is really true. It goes like this:

ARE YOU SAVED?

The cross in not the sign of how much Men is worth, it is the sign of how deprived we are. You don’t tell men ,”they are saved”,You tell them ‘how to be saved.

A Testimony….from Sin to Grace…Delivered

The Third reason we see why the soul is valuable is because God sent His Son to die on a cruel jesus cross, jesus helpcross for us. In Romans 5:8 it says: “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

This is an amazing verse of scripture:

God loved us when we were at our worst!

* God loved us even when we didn’t care a bit about Him.

* God loved us when we were using His name in vain!

* God loved us and loves us unconditionally!

We, many times, look at the outward appearance of a person,we think if a person is successful, has a good job, dresses well, is a good citizen, has a good family,  a good personality, then we think that person has value. That wonderful pastor we know, and that missionary in some far off land- we think they have valuable souls, and of course they do….. But…. what about that drunk on skid row, and how about that prostitute on Henipen Avenue in Minneapolis? Maby you know someone right now that’s not living right, and you think that person doesn’t have much value, if any value.

But if that drunk on skid row and that prostitute would have been the only people in the world Jesus would have died for them, because God is concerned for your soul, for your soul has more value than the whole world! “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole
world and forfeits his soul?” Matthew 16:26

eternal life, christian

Finally we see a soul is valuable when we see the terribleness of a soul that’s lost!

  • It’s terrible  if a person loses his/her health
  • It’s terrible if a person losses his/her money or friends
  • It’s even more terrible if a person losses his/her character.

But what about the loss of a soul?

We hear about little children  who are kidnapped and even killed, and rapes and murder of many people across our country. The newspapers print the story and the television stations report the stories, and we feel the pain and suffering of their family and friends….But if a person dies without accepting Christ and his/her soul is lost for all eternity, do we feel the pain and realize the terribleness of that, and yet to God the soul is more valuable and important then the whole world!

The Bible says in Matthew 5: 29-30 “If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell. “

You see Jesus is trying to tell us – that’s there is nothing more important than your soul being saved and ready for heaven.

I ask you, Are you ready for heaven? Are you ready for eternity if you would die today? Are you sure?

Your soul is so important to God that He sent is only Son to die in our place on an old rugged cross on a hill called Golgotha, so you and I could be saved.

There was no other way that a soul could be saved, if any other way could have saved a person, God would not have had His Son go though the humiliation of being beaten with a whip, a crown of sharp thrones rammed down on his head so His blood dripped into the dust of Golgotha’s hill, and a sharp spear thrust into His side, and finally die a terrible cruel death on the cross.

What a tragedy it would today if you are reading this message and you realize you have truly never accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, Gods free gift for your salvation. What a tragedy it would be if you leave this website and never accept Christ and die and go into a dark eternity with no hope of a home in Heaven.

You say what do I have to do to be saved? I really don’t understand it all.

It’s very simple, just pray this simple prayer, and if your sincere, God will save you and give you a brand new life. It does not make any difference how bad or good you are. God will accept you just as your are.

Don’t let the devil prevent you from doing it.

Just pray this prayer:

Lord Jesus I believe you died for me.

I repent of my sins.

I ask you to come into my heart and save me.

I believe you rose from the dead.

I confess you as my only way to heaven.

With your help I want to live for you.

Thank you for saving my soul.

In Jesus Name Amen

Welcome to Gods family. Read your Bible every day and go to church this Sunday.

Let me close with just one final reminder of the value of a soul.

Heaven rejoices when a soul is saved. I was born in Maddock, North Dakota, and when I received Jesus as my savior, no one rejoiced in the streets of Maddock when I got saved, oh, maybe a few where glad.

But did you know there was great rejoicing in heaven! In Luke 15:4-7 it says Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep. I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.”

Could we ever measure the value of a soul. Could we ever fully understand it’s worth.

devil devils

The second reason we see the soul is valuable is because the devil is interested in your soul. The devil is after your soul, he wants to destroy your life.

The Bible says the devil is the enemy of our soul. In fist Peter Chapter 5 verse 8 it says “The devil is like a roaring lion walking around looking for someone to devour.” The devil is at work right now. Maby you hear this verse of scripture in Church, and you think were in a Church-the devil certainly can’t be in this place. But in Matthew Chapter 13 verse 19 it says “When anyone hears the massage about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart.” Yes, the devil is working right now, even as you read this. It may be that you really don’t understand what salvation is, or what being saved really means. The devil doesn’t want you to understand, so he snatches the word of God away from you.

Yes, the devil is working right now because were dealing with the eternal soul!

The worlds most valuable possession!

And the devil wants your soul!

Now listen very carefully! Do you know that if you have never received Jesus Christ as you savior- or have never confessed Christ as your personal savior than… The Bible says, the Bible says, not Glenn, the Bible says The Devil Has Your soul.

Second Corinthians Chapter four verse four says “the God of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ who is the image of God.”

Ephesians chapter two verses 1-3 says “As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.”

Romans 10:9-10 explains very plainly what is involved in the salvation experience,  “That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord,  and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”

But remember – as you read this the devil is going to try to prevent you from believing it. He knows the moment you hear the Word of God and do what it tells you to do he will lose control of your soul.

Yes, the devil is interested in your soul because the soul is more valuable then the whole world.

titles=Valu of a soul]Continued from>Gods Amazing Grace

In Mark chapter 8 verse 36 Jesus Said that a soul has more value than the whole world… He asks the question “What would it profit a man to gain the whole world and  forfeit his soul.” The Lord Jesus , in this portion of scripture,  takes the whole world in it’s entirety and puts it on one side of a scale [balance].

  • The physical world
  • The geographical world
  • The business world
  • The scientific world
  • The Intellectual world

On the other side of the scale [balance] He puts the human soul, side by side

He puts the two the world and the soul.

You know, Jesus is asking a hypothetical question when he asks; “what would it profit a man if he should gain the whole world,” no one could ever gain the whole world. But Jesus is saying –suppose you could, just suppose you gain the whole world every bit of it, what would it profit you if, by so doing, you lose your eternal soul?? It would be a poor trade,  that’s how valuable the soul is!

But why–why  is the soul so valuable?

The soul is valuable because it’s eternal– It’s the part of you that will never die–It’s the part of you that is made in the image of God, the soul/ spriit will live forever.

It’s the part of you that has understanding.

The part of you that makes decisions.

The part of you that involves the will, emotions, feelings like love, fear, hate.

The part of you that has memory.

The part of you that can store up knowledge.

The soul is that something down deep inside of us that is beyond science to know or understand.

I took a course in astronomy when I was in college, we looked at videos and viewed amazing sights. Astronomers can look through these powerful telescopes and see astounding things in the universe–things they can’t even attempt to explain or understand at the present time. Black holes that baffle the human mind.

Likewise, the soul can not even be seen by science, say nothing about being examined  under a microscope, and can never be explained by science.

The soul is valuable because it is eternal, It’s the part of you that will live forever. and ever, and ever.
